A MEMORABLE LABOR DAY WEEKEND STAYCATION AT THE HYATT REGENCY NEWPORT BEACH

Labor Day Weekend Staycation

This Labor Day weekend, my wife, our three small children, and I enjoyed a fantastic staycation at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. Over the course of three days, we made the most of the resort’s amenities and had a blast relaxing and having fun together.

Comfortable Accommodations

Our room was well-suited for our family, featuring two double beds and a pull-out single. The private balcony offered a pleasant view of the resort’s 9-hole golf course, which was a nice touch. It provided a comfortable and spacious setting for our stay, considering it was just one room.

Resort Amenities

The Hyatt Regency Newport Beach has a great pool complex with three distinct pool areas. The main pool area, which includes a small waterslide (for kids 42 inches and above) and a splashpad, was a favorite for our kids. While it was a lot of fun, it did get quite busy, especially during peak hours and they had a DJ from 12p-4p. Luckily, the other two pool areas were less crowded and offered a more relaxed atmosphere if the main pool became too hectic, but with 3 little kids no one can be more hectic!

Poolside service was available, though the drinks were a bit on the pricey side. Nonetheless, it was convenient to have food and drinks delivered right to our loungers. We enjoyed classic pool fare—burgers, fries, and refreshing beverages—without having to leave the pool area.

The resort also had some great activities for the kids, including complimentary face painting and s’mores, which were a big hit with our children and added to the fun of our stay.

Golfing at the resort was included in the resort fee and was a pleasant experience. The 9-hole course was enjoyable, and it was special to play a round with my boys.

Beachside Fun (Previous Visits)

Although we didn’t visit the nearby bay this time, it’s worth mentioning that the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach offers access to a nice bay right across the street. It features a playground, sandy areas, and plenty of space for kids to play. The hotel also provides beach chairs and umbrellas, making it easy for families to enjoy a beach day. We’ve used this area during previous stays and found it to be a great option for a beach outing.

Breakfast Buffet

Our mornings started off well with a breakfast buffet (it’s usually not a buffet, but it was necessary for the holiday weekend) that was complimentary due to my Globalist status. I have to say I was pretty impressed with the buffet- it had a good variety of options, from fresh pastries, yogurt parfaits, fruits (a yummy watermelon/feta/mint salad I kept going back for), breakfast meats, pancakes, waffle sticks, an omelet/egg bar, other hearty breakfast dishes, and even came with lattes/cappuccinos on top of the regular coffee and juices. It was a great way to fuel up for a day of fun.

Globalist Status

My Globalist status came with several benefits that made our stay more convenient. We were able to check in early at 11 a.m., which was a real help. Additionally, the late check-out at 4 p.m. gave us extra time to enjoy our last day at the resort without feeling rushed.

Hyatt Privé Program

If you’re interested in similar perks, the Hyatt Privé program offers some great benefits. By booking a minimum 2-night stay, you can enjoy complimentary breakfast, early check-in, late check-out, a welcome amenity, and a room upgrade. Plus, you’ll receive a $50 Resort Credit to use during your stay.

Final Thoughts

Our Labor Day weekend at the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach was a fun and relaxing escape. The resort’s amenities, including the diverse pool areas and the busy main pool, provided plenty of entertainment for the whole family. Whether lounging by the pool, playing a round of golf, or enjoying a breakfast buffet, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach made for a memorable staycation. If you’re looking for a family-friendly getaway, this resort is definitely worth considering.
