ESCAPE TO PARADISE: AN AMAZING 72 HOURS AT THOMPSON ZIHUATANEJO

Day 1: Arrival Bliss

Our adventure began with a seamless 20-minute taxi ride from the airport to the stunning Thompson Zihuatanejo. From the moment we stepped into the resort’s serene lobby, we were greeted with a refreshing agua fresca, setting the tone for what was to be an incredible stay. The check-in process was smooth, and we were delighted to learn about the Hyatt Prive benefits that awaited us.

Our room had been upgraded to a swim-up suite—an absolute dream. The suite was luxurious and stylish, with direct access to the pool and a private terrace. On arrival, we found a thoughtful welcome amenity: a delectable cake and rich chocolate truffles, along with a warm note from the management.

Eager to soak up the sun, we strolled just 20 feet to the beach and discovered our very own private palapa. Here, we lounged on plush cushions, enjoying cervezas and an incredible shrimp cocktail while gazing at the crystal blue ocean. As if the day couldn’t get any better, we were treated to a rare and magical sight: a mother leatherback sea turtle laying eggs on the beach.

Day 2: Cultural Exploration and Coastal Relaxation

After a restful night, we started our day with a complimentary stand-up paddleboard session, taking advantage of the serene morning waters. Breakfast followed, featuring an assortment of pastries, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, and a choice of entrees that set us up for a perfect day ahead.

We decided to venture into town, a short 100 pesos taxi ride away, to immerse ourselves in the local culture. Wandering through the vibrant streets, we sampled refreshing micheladas and indulged in local spiny lobster. After returning to the resort, we settled back into our beachside palapa, taking in the stunning ocean views.

In the evening, we were enchanted by a baby turtle release program—a heartwarming and unforgettable experience.

Day 3: Beach Bliss and Culinary Delights

Our third day was all about ultimate relaxation. We kicked off the day with another SUP session, followed by a fabulous breakfast that included a variety of options to suit every taste. Our time under the palapa was spent alternating between lounging and taking refreshing dips in the ocean.

Our drink choices included tangy micheladas and smooth el carajillo’s, perfectly complemented by an aguachile verde and the best tacos de camarón we have ever tasted. The day ended spectacularly with a dinner amidst a dramatic lightning storm—truly a cinematic experience.

Day 4: Farewell to Paradise

On our final day, we took advantage of the double kayak for a bit of morning fun before savoring our last delicious breakfast. We spent a few more hours enjoying the palapa and beach, soaking in every last moment of this tropical paradise.

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to the Thompson Zihuatanejo and hopped into a taxi for the airport. Our 72-hour getaway was nothing short of extraordinary—full of relaxation, exploration, and unforgettable experiences. Until next time, Zihuatanejo!
